ABOUT

The McGill Investment Club (MIC) is a multi-faceted finance club open to students in all faculties at McGill University. The MIC is primarily focused on the capital markets, but our mandate spans across all verticals of finance. We proudly support the career preparation and investment education of all McGill students. The MIC’s Investment Committee is its core mandate, however, the club also hosts several external events each year, including the Global Stock Pitch Competition and its Finance Conventions.

Investment Committee

The Investment Committee is the core mandate of the McGill Investment Club, teaching McGill’s next generation of investors the fundamentals of business analysis and stock pitching. The education sessions cover how to identify strong businesses, understand competitive landscapes, quantify findings through financial models, and ultimately communicate investment ideas through theses and stock pitches.

Our selected cohort of Analysts are placed into one of five industry sectors, including Consumer and Retail, Diversified Industries, Energy, Healthcare and Life Sciences, and Technology Media and Telecom. Analysts are provided additional resources and mentorship opportunities as they work within their sectors to create a variety of deliverables and a judged stock pitch at the end of the program.

Finance Conventions

Each year, the MIC organizes multi-day recruitment conventions in Montreal and Toronto, offering a select group of students access to exclusive networking events with leading financial institutions, as well as alumni cocktail events and exclusive firm dinners. Spots are limited and geared towards students entering the upcoming summer recruitment cycle.

Women in Finance Convention

The Women in Finance Convention is a multi-day hybrid event aimed to gather ambitious female students, professionals, and leaders in the finance industry. The event includes a mix of formal networking events with leading firms, as well as skill development and leadership workshops.

Global Stock Pitch Competition

The MIC invites students from universities around the world to participate in its annual undergraduate stock pitch competition, one of the largest in North America. The stock pitch is designed to showcase students’ financial skills by exploring themes that are not typically explored in the classroom.
